Latitude Parenting

Latitude parenting has become one of my favorite phrases as of late. I can visualize it, I understand it, and it's simple. Parenting with latitude is simply giving your child the space he/she needs to make their own choices within the guidelines you have set.

Does latitude parenting come naturally to you or do you have to consciously choose to do it? What are the affects it's had on your family? What advice would you give to a parent who struggles with this and wants to do better?
