Default My daughter is potty trained!

I posted this on my facebook page, but I just have to share. My daughter who turned 3 almost a month ago, is potty trained! I have tried to train her a couple of times, and it didn't work. She was showing so many signs of being ready, but after spending about two weeks each time, we wouldn't get any where. Yesterday she finally decided that she wanted to wear her princess panties. She has done that a couple of times, but it always resulted in a puddle in the kitchen. I don't know what changed, but yesterday she came up to us a couple of times and told us that she had gone potty. We went to check, and sure enough, she had! We had two toys that we gave her as prizes. They were on the counter in the bathroom for several days, with the hope that they would be a motivation for her. She didn't seem to care enough until yesterday. Today we were worried that she was only doing it for the prizes, but she has stayed clean and dry! I am excited to only have one in diapers now!

That is so awesome! I keep trying and giving up, but maybe someday soon I will be there and have NO kids in diapers! I think giving them things as a reward is great! My kids start out getting a treat and a sticker on their chart each time they go, then we go to a treat and sticker if they are dry before nap and again if they are dry after nap. When they master that then they can have a treat and sticker if they are dry all day and the final steps are a dollar store toy after one week of being dry and a small toy when they master the night time thing. When we first start training, they get to pick out underwear that hang in the bathroom as a reminder of what they get to wear when they are done. I think it helps to motivate them. YOU GO RAR!!!

Thanks everyone! It looks like it has really worked. She woke up dry today, and she didn't have any accidents yesterday. I especially love that I don't have to ask her to go. She just does it on her own. This is awesome!

See, I told you it would happen when she was ready. Now can you remind me of that for my two and a half year old?
