My son

Well, it seems life is truly one trial followed by another. My son was diagnosed today and it IS Crohn's Disease. The doc started him on two meds-- one he will stay on indefinitely, and a corticosteroid to take down the inflammation fast. He will only be on the steroid for a couple of months. He is really a trooper-- he's got this great sense of humor and is not too worried. In fact he was giddy after the scoping was over today-- I think he is just so happy to KNOW what's been causing his pain, and to know that there are meds to help with it. It's no fun to just be miserable all the time! We're going to take things one step at a time for now. Lots of visits to the Ped. GI in our future... but it will be okay. I may have to get a full time job to cover the co-pays, though yikes... I am glad to have an answer and to be on our way now.

I'm sorry that your son is sick, but I am glad that there is a diagnosis now! I'm so glad to hear that your son has a good attitude and is taking it okay. It is a relief to know what is going on so you know what steps to take next. Being in the dark as to why you're in pain is awful...you begin wondering, am I crazy? And then you make yourself crazy going down the list of things it could possibly be! (At least that is how it is for me) It somehow helps to know there is a cause for this pain---now I can figure out what to do to relieve the pain. I sure hope the meds will work fast and that he will be feeling better real soon!!
