Default Potty Training

Ok, my two year old is potty trained. Well, she is peepee trained. She has been the most frustrating potty trainer ever. I blogged back before she was even two about the day she put poopies in the potty all by herself.

Then just about 4 months or so ago when I was trying to potty train she would get poopies into the potty every time, but I got tired of cleaning up the wet messes, which were like every hour. So I decided she just wasn't ready physically.

Now she refuses to go poopies in the potty.

I had another child do this, it is fairly common. I bought him some little toys and put them on the back of the toilet. When he put poopies in the potty he got to choose a toy. I watched him carefully and when I saw the signs of him beginning to do his job I grabbed him and raced him to the potty. It took some encouraging, but he eventually finished up and he never had a problem ever again.

My little one now can be standing right by me and poop in her panties and I don't notice until she turns around to walk out of the room. She makes no sounds or motions to give it away. Since I have been watching more carefully, I find she tends to just dissappear and when she returns, she has a lump in her pants. I'm going to have to hire someone to watch her every second of the day, because I can't seemed to do it.

Any suggestions?

Honestly, I would put my dd right back in diapers (or pullups). If she's making more work for me- and ruining panties, I wouldn't deal with it. Whatever you decide to do, good luck!! As my dad likes to point out, they'll outgrow it by college! (Hopefully!!)

Bookworm, her pooping in her panties really isn't any more work for me than if she was in a pull up. The only way to cut out the extra work, would be for her to go in the potty. Her BMs are nice and firm, but not hard, and I can just pick them right up out of her diaper with some toilet paper. (Sorry if TMI) Refusing to go poopies in the potty is actually very common and from what I understand putting her back in diapers isn't going to solve the problem, but could possible make it worse. I think that is what happened when I put her back in diapers before.

I actually did a little research after posting this little vent and came across a mother that took away her daughters underwear. So then she had a choice to either poop on the floor or in the potty. The potty won. If there is nothing to catch it, usually a child will think twice before going. So I think I'm going to try this with my daughter. It worked before she was two, it should work now that she is almost three. I'll let you all know how it goes.

I HATE potty training, but thankfully I'm done. Emma has been in panties full time (night too) for about a week and a half.
I think every kid is so different that you have to rethink this every time. Good luck with the no panties thing, let us know how that works out!

Whether you're just getting started with potty training, have stopped and started, or are almost there, ParentsConnect has got your back (and front). Teri Crane, the Potty Pro and author of Potty Train Your Child in Just One Day stopped by ParentsConnect to offer tips, tricks and time tested techniques to help parents get the "potty started!" So keep on reading and motivate your kid to get up and go-go-go (on the potty!)

Where do you want him to go to the bathroom? You said you are taking him to the open terrace, but don't want to face street dogs. Where will he go when he gets older? Terrace? Outside? Puppy pads?

Thanks
