Puberty in Boys

I was talking to some family members yesterday about some recent problems I've encountered w/ DS1 and I told them that I felt it was hormones. My FIL said, "that is also known as puberty". My main concern in my son's behavior is his sudden onset of moodiness w/ no warning and/or provocation. What is the best way to wade through his emotional roller coasters and how long is this going to last?

Hey, Diva, as you know we are wading into the hormonal pit that is puberty at our house, too. Fun fun fun!

My 13-yo son is soooo moody. My sister warned me that when a boy turns 13 (and maybe some as early as 12), it's like "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"! They become a different boy! My oldest will still surprise me with hugs and kisses, though, so at least he's retained that aspect of his personality. He's an angel for other people, but sometimes at home he's bossy, mean, disrespectful, stompy and just plain moody. Up and down, loud and... well, not quiet exactly, but you get the idea. I found this comic strip a few weeks ago, and it's hilarious, because it's TRUE! If I can get it to attach or copy here, I will.

Again, I recommend reading "Christlike Parenting"- it's very helpful with teenage issues. As far as wading through, just brace yourself. If it's any consolation to us, my sister's oldest is now 16 and has finally come full circle- he is sweet again and amiable and agreeable most of the time. He talks to her again and things are looking up. So, at some point in the next 3-4 years, hopefully they will circle back to us awhile.

We have had that problem for quite a few years in our house with our 15 yr old son and now also our 13 yr old son
It is nice to know we aren't the only ones
