Our baby, Gracie, was born Tuesday April 15th at 2:02 in the morning. She was 7 pounds 12 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long. She has brown hair, and pretty much looks like our 2 year old daughter did as a newborn. In fact, we compared pictures, and it is hard to tell the difference!
She had an interesting birth! On Sunday I had contractions all day and night, but they weren't too bad and they weren't progressing. On Monday, they were a little harder, but not progressing. My doctor had us go into the hospital that afternoon to get checked, and I was only at a 3 and 70% effaced. They had me walk around the hospital for an hour to see if it would move things along. Nothing changed. So I went home.

My parents had come to our house on Sunday, and picked up the kids because we thought we were having the baby then. So Monday night we decided to get the kids back since nothing was happening. We put them to bed and I tried to relax. The contractions were hurting by then, but were 10 to 12 minutes apart. I was getting frustrated because it felt like it would take a week to have the baby, and it has never taken me this long. At 1 in the morning my water broke. My friend came over to stay with the kids, and I took my time talking to her. We didn't feel a rush to get to the hospital because after my water breaks I usually have 3 to 8 hours until my baby is born. On the way to the hospital, we got stuck at a red light. After sitting there for several minutes, we realized the light probably wouldn't change. DH turned our hazard lights on and ran through it (no one was coming and it was almost 2 in the morning!). By the time we got to labor and delivery, it was only 9 minutes later that our baby was born! I had planned on getting an epidural, but there wasn't any time, so that was stressful! So, from the time my water broke until our baby was born, was only an hour. We spent most of that time at home. Good thing we didn't wait around any longer! I am so glad I am done with labor! And I am glad to have our cute little baby!
