Default BBQ Ideas

Anyone have some great BBQ-ing ideas for summer meals? We've been using the BBQ a lot for hamburgers and hot dogs and I love it so I'm wanting to try something a little different for a change...that isn't too weird.

I like to make chicken or beef shish kabobs and marinate the meat overnight in teriyaki or lemon pepper marinate sauce. I can add lots of veggies and my kids like to eat the veggies off of the stick. I like to add squash, peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, and zuchini. You have a meal right on the stick. Yummy!!!

We went over to my brother-in-law's house the other day and he made a chicken quesedilla on the grill. It was amazing!

I like to buy the frozen chicken thats boneless, and I toss it on the grill while frozen... then season while its cooking.

being frozen seems to slow the cooking down enough so the outside doesn't burn before the inside is cooked. Always juicy too. I always make enough to top a salad the next day!

Our adoptive grandparents in our neighborhood do pineapple and peaches. I haven't gotten a chance to taste the peaches, because they are always gone by the time we get there, however I do know they slice them in half take out the pit and replace the pit with a little brown sugar before grilling. The pineapple however I have had my share and it is wonderful. Just peel, slice and grill.

These are awesome ideas!

LnF, what temp do you cook your shishkabobs at? I'm always afraid of burning the veggies.

PG, same question and did you lay them on tin foil or plop them right on the grill?

mxmama, way to think ahead girl! I love the idea of topping a salad the next day, what a great idea! That would help a mother of five boys who never takes time to sit down and eat lunch because it takes too long to prepare it.

Dia, what temp? This sounds delicious! I think my older kids would love it.

Is there a temperature gage on the grill? I thought it was just hot, hotter, or hottest.

Elder says 250-300.

Yes, Grills should have a temp gauge. And I need to teach mine to use it. She seems to like to blacken everything.

I don't know about the temp. but he put them right on the grill. Chicken and cheese were the favorite and add the salsa after they are done.

I just purchased a temp gauge for the grill for my hubby, one of his fathers day gifts.. it was $10 at amazon.com. They have lots of cool grilling things!

Ok that pineapple and peach thing sounds down right yummy!!!

Temp gauge? Good heavens- I had no idea. I just turn it on and cook away. Maybe that's why some of our dinners come out a little well done...

I made this marinade the other night for chicken that I really liked- I used teriyaki sauce, garlic (the bottled stuff you keep in the fridge), olive oil and pepper. I also like to marinate chicken in olive oil, lemon juice, garlic again, oregano, salt and pepper- it's much like Greek Souvlaki. Yum!

My neighbor two doors down likes to cook corn dogs on her grill. Not being a fan of those, I haven't tried it, but she and her girls love it.

You can also BBQ corn on the cob. Just leave the husks on! My brother does this all the time and says it's delicious!

oh my goodness, Corn on the cob off the grill is to DIE for! I have no idea how to do it (I've seen it done, but there's go to be more to it).

Can you find out from your brother how long and what temps he does them for? I really really really want to do this.

Hello, Earth to BS, we've already done it! We don't need instructions on something we already know how to do.

Oh really -- and remind me -- was it any good? Since I don't remember it, it must not have been very good.
