Default Magic Soup anyone?? Very interesting, and scary

I was looking up recipes and I found this one.
tell me what you think of it, OR even better, if you have tried it

It's called magic because it never runs out, and the name is more appealing to children than what it actually is. Magic soup is made by creating a good basic vegetable soup with a chicken or beef stock and vegetables. There is always some left, so it gets stored in the freezer still in the pot. All leftovers from subsequent meals get added to the pot - spaghetti sauce, stew, cooked vegetables, rice, mashed potatoes, chopped meat loaf, the stock from boiled chicken bones, curry, anything and everything except fish. Once a week, I take the pot out of the freezer, thaw and heat it, add water if it's too thick and serve. It's like a free meal every week, and leftovers are never forgotten to grow technicolored fur in the refrigerator. It's flavor is undefinable but good.

Is that crazy or what??

Its a great idea, but scares me at the same time

A little crazy, yes. I don't know if I would dare. Very interesting indeed.

I'm pretty sure it stems from my childhood, but I really dislike leftovers, especially meat. This sounds just nasty to me and I don't think I'd be able to stomach it, let alone have my kids eat it.

Well now that I know how you guys feel about it, I can say what I really think....

We would have to be dirt poor living in a card board box to try that recipe.

I was worried about hurting someone feelings in case someone here did that

It is an interesting idea...but not necessarily in a good way. I think you would have to be dirt poor to try this!

Actually, it might be kind of dangerous to do a freeze, thaw, heat, eat, freeze, thaw, heat, eat cycle with meat or sauces made from meat. We freeze leftover soup or spaghetti sauce (on it's own) sometimes, but only heat it again once. I wouldn't dare try that recipe, even if it sounded good, but it really sounds gross. Interesting, but gross. Back in the old days, they would keep that pot of pea soup on the hearth for weeks, adding to it when they had meat or veggies- hence the rhyme "peas porridge hot, peas porridge cold, peas porridge in the pot 9 days old.. some like it hot, some like it cold, some like it in the pot 9 days old." Not me!! I'm so grateful I live in a time when food is so accessable!!! And to have a husband who provides us with good, fresh food!

This is really gross! Now that I'm done throwing up! All these things mixed together. YUCK! I don't mind the occasional reheat, but to add everything and then just a little water. Heck, you'd need alot of water to wash it all down.

Sometimes we have pancakes or cereal for dinner, should we throw that in there as well?

Oh yes, definitely. I'm sure the scale thanks you.

Can you imagine having left over scrambled eggs and tossing them into that pot? Along with spaghetti sauce, maybe some meatloaf, pork chops, taco meat...etc??

Whew.. gross.

This is a tactic that is often used by WWs while at work. When someone brings in goodies they know they should not eat they imagine them being touched, sneezed on, licked, etc. by their coworkers. It keeps them from devouring the yummy treats.

Now if I could just use the image of pancakes, spaghetti sauce, eggs and pork chops all mixed together in a big pot on the stove to keep me from eating the entire carton of ice-cream.
