1. Is it okay to freeze cottage cheese? (I'm thinking yes, but didn't know for sure.) 2. How many TBSP of onion flakes does it take to equal one small onion? 3. Does Parmesan cheese freeze well? 4. Does anyone buy pizza sauce and where can I get it? If not, what recipe do you use? Last edited by 5ft Diva; 03-10-2009 at 02:09 AM.

the only one I feel confident answering is #4- I use a can of tomato sauce, and then sprinkle liberally with all of the following: onion powder garlic salt black pepper italian seasoning we really like it. I do have opinions on the other questions, but I'm not sure-- As far as onion flakes, I just use enough to make a thin layer across the top of whatever I'm making and then eyeball it-- I've never measured them before... And I would imagine parmesan would freeze well, but I'd recommend you research on the internet before freezing cottage cheese...

1. I have frozen cottage cheese. It worked. The consistency seems different, like maybe runnier, but it still worked. My guess would be that it would be fine to freeze if you were cooking with it, because you can buy frozen lasagna at the store. I'm not sure what it would be like to use fresh with fruit, though. I looked a little online, and people said that if you freeze it, after it thaws it has a lumpy and runny consistency. 2. Several sites online said that 1/3 cup of dried onion flakes equals 1 medium onion. 3. Yes, you can freeze parmesan. It has a low moisture content, so it freezes better than cheddar. 4.If you have the ward cookbook, I have my pizza sauce recipe in there. It is with the calzones recipes. It is so easy for me to make it, that we have never bought pizza sauce from the store.

I "second" using RAR's CC cookbook recipe for the pizza sauce, (page 25). Yum! We just made it the other night and my kids absolutely love it. I used to buy sauce in a jar from Maceys, but the home-made stuff tastes better and I'm sure it's much cheaper.
