I have lost my mind. I seriously don't know where it went. Every time I turn around to say something I forget what it was I going to say. Every time I go to write down something that I wanted to remember about later I can't remember what it was I wanted to write down. Every time I walk into a room to get something I forget what it was I was getting before I even get there. Every time I tell my kids they can do something I forget that I told them they could do it and then get mad at them for doing what I told them they could do in the first place. Right now I also lose my focus really easily. My kids, husband, and those I work with are being really patient with me, but I'm starting to wonder how much more they can put up with. I'm really hoping it's "I-just-had-my-baby-hormones" and that it'll go away with time, but this is really getting in the way of my everyday life. I'm wanting to know if any of you have ever experienced this after having your babies? If so, how long does it last? Is there something I can take to help me stay focused? Am I forgetful because I'm in my 30's or because I just had a baby? Is this something I should be concerned about or is it just a phase? TIA

Yes, Diva I have been there. I call it "mommy brain". I did a little research for you and it is very normal. It takes up to a year for it to go away. It has to do with hormones and lack of sleep and just being plain tired all the time. There is nothing safe to take while you are still nursing. Sleep helps. BigS can take Jordyn for you during the day so you can sneak in a nap. And you really should only be getting up during the night to nurse. If she needs a diaper change or some cuddling then hand her over to daddy and get as much sleep as you can. If that doesn't work. Bring her over here. I'll watch her while you take a nap. I'll even come and get her if you need me to.

Hmmm...I've been dealing with that for several years now. And like Dia says, it must be related to the sleep you're not getting. They think I have a sleep disorder too, but I think the "mommy brain" is a bit better now that I get more sleep and more quality sleep. I wish I could come hold the baby for you too and let you sleep!
