"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us." - Gandalf the Wizard, Lord of the Rings (Big_Sissy) I love the new quote Sissy. I thought is was worthy enough for a discussion. What do you do to live in moment? How do you put the past behind you and quit worry about the future long enough to enjoy what is happening right now? There have been so many times in my life that I find myself wishing I were somewhere else. When I was in college I just wished I was married and raising kids. Now that I'm married and raising kids, there are times I wish that I had just enjoyed those college years a little more. I find myself wishing my kids were grown up so that I would have a little more time to do what I want. Yet, I know that when I get there I will wish that I would have enjoyed these years more. Since lossing Levi, I do find myself enjoying the simple moments a lot more. I really don't think there are more moments to enjoy, it just seems that way, because I am enjoying those moments more. I have also found that there are so many things that just don't matter. I am less critical of my children, my house, my husband, etc. There is just not enough time to worry about all the little things that will come with time. I kind of feel like rambling tonight. Not sure why. I hope this makes more sense to all of you, than it is making to me, at the moment. I'm beginning to think that I should have taken that nap when I had a chance. Dia

No, I'm glad you decided to "ramble". To answer your question, what do I do to enjoy what's happening right now, I gain perspective from those who have experience under their belt. I know that I am not in a position to see things as they really are so I ask those who are more seasoned to help me understand things as they really are so I can enjoy them for what they are. Good topic, Dia!

I almost live by this, because in the future I don't want to regret something I wish I should have done with my family. OR- taught them.

Very intersting topic. I always try and enjoy the moments with the children because they go by so fast. However, I find myself hurrying through them so I can get the next task done. Wow...something to focus on this week.

For me, I like to ride motocycles. That is truely how I live in the moment. Playing with my children does that for me as well. But all the other stuff (work, work, and work) just make the days go by fast, and quite frankly, it's a chore. I do enjoy it mostly, but I yearn for what's after it far more. How does the saying go... "I play, therefore, I work."

Dia- I'm glad you "rambled" as well. I've felt that way in my life a lot too that I'm not really living in the moment. It's really crazy how fast life flies by especially after you have children. There's that saying that I can't remember exactly how it goes but it's about when your kids are all grown are they going to remember that you had a clean house or that you had a mom that played with you? I'm trying harder to relax and play with my kids more instead of worrying about the messes as much but it is hard. I love taking moments out just to have fun with my children and husband. I think in those moments we grow closer and it's amazing how less stressful the rest of the day is that I've acually done something with them.

I love that quote and all of your thoughts. It is hard to live for now, instead of constantly waiting for the future to come. This has been tough for me as well. This is something I'm really working hard on, to enjoy the here and now. Who knows how long any of us have here on this earth. I love what Smed said too about trying to live so we'll not have regrets. That's how I make many of my decisions now. I think, if I don't do this now, will I regret it a year from now, 10 years from now?? It's really motivating me to do so much more. I don't have this mastered yet or anything I love what you said SG too about what will your kids remember....the clean house, or a mom that laughed and played and had fun with them....
