This zone thing is working perfect for our family. This is our second week. Josh and I went away for the weekend and JJ was spending the night with his grandma when he left. I guess when he came home Saturday morning he forgot that he had a break from chores on the weekend. LOL He started doing them and the babysitter laughed and told him to not do them that I gave him a break besides feeding the dog and cat and taking out the garbage cans for trash day. Oh it was classic.

My kids love picking their zones now and I had so much fun watching Jacob (5) trying to vacumn the kitchen floor. He was trying so hard and was having so much fun....granted I had to help him when he was "done" with the floor but he loved it.

I think I may fine tune them a little but for our families needs and my wants for the house but I want to say thank you for the guidance. This has made a huge impact for us.

Oh don't worry...there is always plenty to go around BS. You come down once a month right? I think there are some BIG chores for you to do since you can only do them once a month.

Well, it sounds like you've all got it figured out! We do zones here at my house, too. The big complaint is that little sister (5 yesterday) doesn't do her share. The boys are RIGHT. She doesn't. I need to get better at letting her work along with me. She does clean her own room and make her bed, when I make her. My two older boys are fabulous at chores- they earn video game time by completing their assignments. On Saturdays during the school year they clean the bathrooms, vacuum their zones, etc, but during the summer, we break Saturday chores up so they have more daily, but less on Saturday. It seems to work well. Two days a week are vacuum days, one day is wipe down day, one is bathroom scrubbing day, one day they tidy the garage and one day they tidy the basement. This is on top of the daily clean bedroom, make bed, practice a little piano, etc. type of chores.

I don't know if this is helpful to anyone, but I thought I'd comment.

That made me laugh! Last night Ben was sick of me telling him to brush his teeth and use the bathroom and get into sleeping clothes, and he came storming into my room with "What else do you want me to do, MASTER! Since I'm your SLAVE!" Little sass. I said, "Well, if you are my slave, you don't have to go to bed, because the kitchen needs cleaning and there's laundry to sort and the toilets could use freshening..." He opted to go to bed instead
