Default Storing Clothes

Does anyone store their clothes seasonally? (I hope this makes sense.) Does anyone have a system that works? I used to have a lot of room, but now my kids are getting bigger and the clothes are getting bigger which means they take up more space...well you get the picture. I'm just looking for a system that works. I'm thinking I'd like to do this for my own wardrobe as well.

We live in an apartment so we have to store our seasonal clothing just to have enough room for our other clothing. We have tried a few different things. We have stored our out of season clothing in our suit cases that we aren't using. Since we usually only fly once a year this is a good way for us. And then we just store the suitcases under our bed or in the storage closet. We have also bought those vacuum pack storage bags before. These would probably work really good for you with having lots of clothes to store. They have XL, L, M, and S bags. It is amazing how much you can store in these bags and how small they get. These are just a few ideas that we have tried that have worked for us.

I have never really paid much attention to the vacuum sealed bags. I'll have to pay attention to them the next time I'm at the store. I know I've seen them before. I can see that that would be a good solution.

I have a large see thru container for each child. I have stored them on the top shelf in their closet and/or under the bed. I keep their off season clothes and clothes they will soon grow into in their box and go through them every season. I don't keep very many. They each get one box and only one box. Usually if it will be more than a year before someone will wear it, I give it away. I figure that I am blessing someone else's life by sharing and so I will be blessed to be able to replace it when needed.

This is a great idea, especially for my older boys. I'm not sure how to implement it w/o it turning into a huge project. How would you suggest I do this, Dia? I know this sounds like a dumb question, but I think you know me well enough to know what I'm trying to ask here.

Ok, right now you are trying to pack away the summer clothes and pull out the winter clothes right? What I do is hang up all the winter clothes that still fit in each of the kids' closets. I repack the ones that might fit someone next year, and get rid of all the rest. Then as the summer clothes come through the wash, I pack them in the bins. I know you don't have very much room, but I just pull the bins out to the living room while I'm working on the laundry and then put them away each time I'm done. Usually with in a week all the summer clothes will be packed away. Sometimes I have a stray or two and I will just pull out the appropriate bins when needed.
