Default Ch 5: The Importance of Becoming Single-Minded

This chapter was very EYE-OPENING to me. Defining the difference between Thinking and Feeling is VERY helpful to me. I read the book
“As a Man Thinketh, So is He” about 15 years ago, and it made a huge impact on me. This Chapter “The Importance of Becoming Single-Minded”, to me, climbs to an even higher level of this.

For me, this quote from the chapter is very profound:
“In order for us to experience in life what we THINK we desire, the THINKING and the FEELING have to be in unison. If the FEELING is not the same as the THINKING, then we need to change the FEELING so that it becomes the same as the THINKING. After we align the THINKING and the FEELING so they are the same, we become single-minded. Until we accomplish this, we are double-minded and life works against us. When we are single-minded about what we desire in life, life works for us because, the FEELING, or heart, always wins. What we FEEL is literally the “prayer of our heart,” and we always receive the “prayer of our heart!”

WOW!! I love this thought. I am definitely going to work on aligning my thinking and feeling. I know there are several areas where what I think and what I feel are in conflict…..this is so HUGE for me to have this all put into words....if that makes sense. GREAT STUFF for me to work on here!

I, too, loved this quote (and the whole chapter). I've never really thought about it before, in this way. There are so many LDS references to being single-minded. I suppose I've never attempted to break down what that means, as a general concept and what it means to me, specifically.

I underlined quite a few ideas, but I don't have my book. I'll have to post more later.
