Default Book: Deceptively Delicious by Jessica Seinfeld

I bought this book on my sister's recommendation, and I'm wondering if any of the rest of you have seen it or used it?

It's tips, tricks, how-tos and recipes for sneaking in pureed veggies into your normal cooked and baked foods. Last week I made the homemade mac & cheese with cauliflower puree, and it was really, really delicious. Today, though, I made the oatmeal raisin cookies, and I don't know if it was my substitutions or the recipe, but they were awful. I had to use margarine instead of the spread called for, and I used chocolate chips instead of raisins (we are anti-raisin here). They were nasty. The purees in this recipe were zucchini and banana. All I could taste was banana- I think it needed a lot more cinnamon and something else...

Anyway, I'm also wondering if anyone cooks like this and has any good recipes??
I would post the picture of the book, but I'm photo-impaired tonight.

I throw veggies, ground nuts, and other healthy things into food whenever I think I can get away with it. I don't really have any recipes...I might have to check into the book you mentioned. I'm a lazy cook, though, so if it takes too much effort to add in veggies, I won't do it.

One thing I have tried is substituting pureed white great northern beans for shortening/butter in some recipes. It takes out all the cholesterol & fat and adds fiber--double bonus. It works well for dense sweets like banana cake. Just be sure to reduce or eliminate the salt if you use canned beans. You can also substitute applesauce for oil in some recipes.

Keep us posted on other successful recipes.
