Series: The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency (#8)
This book was recommended by a librarian and like The Sunday Philsophy Club is a NICE book. But it is more than that. While the main point of the story is the mystery that is going on, what the book is excellent about is the characters and the interaction of the characters. The mysteries are very much the back story.
The cover of this book says "McCall Smith's fans seem to hunger for the kindness, dignity, and humor he celebrates in Mma Ramotswe, and this book will not disappoint them". And it's true. This is an enjoyable read filled with beautiful thoughts and funny mishaps.
Mma Ramotswe (no, I have no idea how to pronounce it) is a detective in Botswana. Her secretary and husband both want to do more in the detective agency and in this story there are 3 mysteries, one for each of them. Each has an interesting and unexpected conclusion, based on human nature.
I can easily recommend this book for light and fun and NICE reading! |
