Like the other book I wrote a review about I listened to this one on CD. I ordered these on CD because I really wanted BS to read these books w/ me and he only listens to books on CD/tape.
Anyway the author is Rick Johnson. He's not an expert but he specializes in workshops for single mothers trying to raise their boys into men and what it takes to do that. Because he writes from this perspective he recognizes that not all dads are going to be there for their sons and so gives good suggestions for how to meet that need through the other dependable men in your son's life.
I enjoyed listening to this book. I felt it was easy to follow and he gave interesting and sometimes entertaining examples I could relate to (and I think I most enjoyed listening to BS laugh when he said somethings that I guess only guys can relate to). I really liked this book because the author's approach is very matter of fact and practical. It also helped that his values were very similar to my own. The only expectation I had before listening to this book was to learn how to raise boys into responsible men. I felt that expectation was met. Again, I would recommend this to the parents of boys.
