Default Book: They Eye of the World

Okay, for any of you who have ever asked me for book titles, I have probably told you about Robert Jordan's "Wheel of Time" series, the first of which is "The Eye of the World". I recently began re-reading this book, and I'm struck again by just how incredible an author Jordan was. He created a world that is unparalleled by any other book series I've ever read. My brother says that Jordan's books 'ruined' all other fantasy fiction for him (not really, but he means that they are easily the very best of the genre).

I never used to read fantasy books until I read these books on my brother's recommendation. Now I love fantasy- Harry Potter, Twilight, LOTR, and others. I especially enjoy Harry Potter because I feel like I'm actually there in this world with these characters- that is exactly how Jordan's books are, too, and even moreso.

As far as my memory goes, they are totally clean (some violence, battle scenes, etc.) and I recommend them to everyone and anyone who asks me for a title. The prologue to the first book is confusing- I usually recommend that people skip it. I would bet that by the 5th chapter, though, you'll be hooked on these books too.

I had forgotten how much I love these characters until I picked it up again. It's like a reunion reading it again- very enjoyable... now where did I put my book?

I'm so glad you said something, BW, because DS1 told me the other day that he was a really good author and wanted one of his books and I was hesitant to buy it because I couldn't recall who he was. My son will be thrilled! Thanks also for the review.
