Movie: Radio I watched the movie Radio last week. It was VERY good!
The movie is about a developmentally disabled man in the 1970s who is "taken in" by the local high school football coach. The coach makes him a part of the team by letting him hand out towels and water to the players and soon the whole school has taken him in by letting him be the hall monitor (who says "no running!" but then gives you a hug because he didn't mean to yell at you) and be the morning announcer of the lunch menu.
It is a heartwarming story based on a true story. They have actual pictures of "Radio", a name he is given because he likes radios so much, today where he still is an assistant coach on the high school team. This is a fantastic family film; my kids liked it as well as I did.
One funny thing...my 11yo dd asked where they found an actor who was disabled, but could still do the lines of the movie so well? I had to chuckle when I told her the actor was Cuba Gooding Jr. who has been in a lot of movies and isn't disabled at all...he's ACTING. He is excellent as Radio. The coach is played by Ed Harris who is always excellent. |
